The bathrooms in many of the suites are now positively spacious with much more room to move around and with counter space to put one's toilet articles. Food at any of the Four Seasons has never been anything to write home about, but Boston in particular is trying. Aujourd'hui, its upscale restaurant, and the snug bar outside it, are long gone there is no decent place to have a drink.
The extensive co-curricular program at Perth Modern School aims to provide exciting activities that will stimulate an interest in school life as well as activities not previously experienced.
Developing a school-wide culture and ethos of service, Providing opportunities for students to exercise responsibility and develop leadership skills, Providing opportunities for students to learn through helping others. Community Service activities that Perth Modern School students participate in include: Perth Modern School students have a tradition of success in debating competitions and a large number of our teams compete each year in the Western Australian Debating League.
Inthe Senior debating team won the State championships and our Junior team was runner-up. Teams are coached by dedicated and highly qualified Alumni and managed by enthusiastic teachers. Students are also encouraged to participate in other local and national debating and public speaking competitions.
Camps, Tours and Excursions: Regular camps, tours and excursions are available for students to attend throughout the year.
These include Year Camps, overseas music and language tours and local and national subject excursions such as the Art Camp and the Humanities and Social Science Canberra Tour.
These activities result in academic, cultural and social benefits for our students and provide safe, fun, educational, worthwhile and memorable experiences. A wide range of clubs forms an important part of the co-curricular life of the school.
Involvement in these Clubs enables students to develop skills and interests in many varied fields and simultaneously contribute to the broad educational experience offered by Perth Modern School.
Some Clubs enable small groups of students to follow particular interests under staff guidance, other Clubs focus on academic development and extension and some involve students in local, state and national competitions. All students at Perth Modern School are encouraged to develop physical skills, co-ordination, strength and physical fitness so that they may gain a sense of enjoyment and satisfaction from individual and team sporting activities.
The provision of opportunities for healthy competition and the fostering of co-operation, integrity and sportsmanship within these situations is an important part of life at Perth Modern School.
Co-curricular sports include netball, soccer, football, swimming badminton and fencing. The Duke of Edinburgh's Award: The Duke of Edinburgh Awards encourages students aged 14 to 25 to undertake a series of activities over an extended period of time to achieve goals, commencing at the bronze level and finishing at the gold level.
The program is entirely voluntary and is structured so that participants can design their own unique program centred around their interests and passions.
There are four sections to the Award for students to build their own personal program around: Training and co-ordination of activities is integrated within the life of the school and is closely supervised by members of our teaching staff. Participation in academic competitions is strongly encouraged for Perth Modern School students as part of their options for academic extension.
Competitions offer gifted students an opportunity for state and national competition to gauge their abilities and skills.
